Thought For The Week 3, December 2017

Last Sunday was a wonderful day in the life of the parish.
We came together in worship to celebrate our Stir-Up Sunday to make our hearts and minds ready for this Christmas season, we celebrated the ordination of Steph Holland as an Elder among us, and we had a resoundingly successful vote at our congregational meeting to go ahead with the upgrade of the St Stephens foyer.
Any one of these things on their own would be reason enough to celebrate. All together they made for a remarkable day. Perhaps the most wonderful event of the day was our Community BBQ at Trinity, where we invited our community together to dream about how we can live and share God’s love in the South end of town.
What an incredible time! We had well over 50 people from the community come through and share their thoughts on questions like “What do you love about living in this part of town?”, “What does our community need?” and “How can we help nurture your relationship with God?” I’m not sure how many dozen mini pavlovas were shared, but we gave away 111 sausages exactly, and there was a wonderful feeling around the place with people chatting freely, kids playing, and many wonderful people getting to know one another.
Thank you and 1,000 times thank you to the wonderful people from our congregation who were such friendly, welcoming and hospitable hosts.
What a blessing! Did I mention that it was wonderful?
