Well, it has been a busy winter! From heavy rain and floods to holiday programmes and baptisms, we have certainly been kept on our toes. In positive news, we had a wonderful turn out for the Landlubbers holiday programme. It was also lovely to celebrate a dedication for Lilley Fulton, and the baptism of Hayley and Ashley Chang.
Sadly, we have also said farewell to some well-loved members of our parish with the funerals of Elaine Wyllie, Rhonda Clifton, Margaret Bennetts and Margaret Wilkinson. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families as they grieve.
We had a congregational forum at St. Stephens to discuss the timing of worship and what the way forward might be for improving the church entrance and foyer. Thank you to all those who engaged with this. As a church we are keen to see our congregations grow as more people draw close to Jesus and gather to worship him. Timing of worship can be a support or a barrier for this.
There was support from the existing congregation to investigate a 10am worship time. This was discussed at Parish Council. There is still more discernment to be done around this, so watch this space.
There was also a mandate to modernise and improve the entrance and foyer, rather than simply patching up what is already there. The property group will be looking into this, so, again, watch this space!
Coming up we have our AGM on Sunday 1 October. This will follow a combined, 10am service at St. Stephens. There will be vacancies in our Parish Council, so please get your thinking caps on for suitable nominees.
The following weekend we are hosting the annual Alpine Presbytery gathering at Trinity. More information will be coming out in due course, but please contact the office if you would be willing to host a billet on the weekend of 6-8 October.
It sounds like our busy winter is beginning to turn into a busy spring! Let’s hope that the weather follows suit.
