Thought For The Week 13 August
As I write this, the work on the Trinity hall is coming to completion. The roof is still to be painted once the weather warms up but the leaks have been fixed, new electrical wiring throughout the building, fresh paint outside and new lights mean this facility is ready to serve the mission of God in the years ahead.
So what do we do with this facility? How should we use it? Currently it is used for Boy’s and Girl’s Brigade and occasional events (funerals, Bookarama…).But there is so much more we could be doing there. I imagine the hall to be a centre for community activity and outreach. A place where non-Christians (or pre-Christians if you like) can encounter the message of the gospel through various ways and means as they gather regularly and rub shoulders with our church community. This can be through Brigades, Rhythm Kids, Men’s shed, exercise groups, Counselling service, Op shop…
What ideas do you have? We’d love to hear them. Also we need to hear from the neighbourhood so we are planning to host a gathering to get feedback from the wider community to see what ideas they may have. Listening to our community is a key step in discovering what God is up to and finding ways to be involved in his mission.
It’s time to dream about new possibilities!
