Thought For The Week 16 May 2021

It was a privilege this week to be present for the fourth anniversary of Rhythm Kids!

We had music, dancing, coffee, candles and cake. What a wonderful  outreach into our community this group is! Rhythm Kids is so much more than a pre-school music programme (although the programming is wonderful, thanks Sarah!). Rhythm Kids is a community where people care for one another, and people belong. It really is special – not every group like this builds such trust and relationship.

Huge credit is due to the Rhythm Kids team, especially Helen Carter and Sarah  Savage who do so much to make this all possible.

Rhythm Kids is not our only significant community facing ministry.  Later this year, Eat Well will turn six.  Our winter lunches, which begin again later this month, have been providing belonging, food and fellowship for more years than I know. Our holiday programme gets underway again in July. TP Kids and yoga are gaining momentum too.

The weekend before last I was at the Coracle gathering in Hanmer, and we talked about setting sail into the unknown, trusting in God’s Spirit to guide us. I believe that it is as we begin to share our lives of faith with the people God has planted us amongst that our Coracle journeys truly begin.
