Thought ForThe Week 10 May 2020
As we get ready to move from Lockdown Level 3 to Level 2, we are aware that we are living in very unusual times. It has been disruptive and restrictive, and to a certain extent we will still not be able to go back to life as normal, whatever our new normal might be.
I’d like to let you know that Brent and I, along with the Parish Council, are thinking seriously about what we have gained from this time, and how we can carry this forward into our future together.
Lockdown has cost us many freedoms, but it has also revealed to us some wonderful things. We have been liberated by the joy of sharing more deeply with those we don’t know so well. We have gained digital skills that we never thought would be part of our lives. We have realised the value of being face to face with people we love, and sharing all things in common.
As we move into Level 2, Parish Council will be planning for what church life and worship will look like for the next wee while. Keeping people connected and keeping people safe are at the top of our agenda. We hope to be able to share more with you this time next week, but in the meantime, we will continue with the rhythm of life and worship that we’ve learned to enjoy over the last 6 weeks.
Andrea has been sharing with me the “All Right” messages that encourage us to be kind to ourselves as we go through the highs and lows of lockdown life. They’re very encouraging. It’s all right to feel the way that we feel. And on a deeper level, our faith in Jesus, the love that we know through God our Father, shows us that even when everything else falls away, we will still be all right, because God is always with us. He is the firm foundation that will help us survive through interesting times.
