Thought For The Week March 1 2020

Brent and I had an overnight retreat at Te Waiora retreat centre in Hororata last Monday.
It is a lovely place to be. A thin place. A place where you can feel close to God, and closer to your true self. It is a blessing to stay there.
While we were there, there were two things that really touched me deeply.
First, we took our guitars and listened to and played some new songs. It is often said that music is the language of the soul. I do not doubt that this is true. What new music have you listened to recently that re-awakened the connection between your mind and your soul? Which well-loved pieces draw you closer to God through the touch of the Holy Spirit?
We also spent some time reflecting on our family history, and sharing our thoughts and reflections with one another. This was a sacred space. These things are intimate and deep in heart of us all. As we enter the Easter season, you may wish to spend some time reflecting on your own family, the treasured moments and also the brokenness that we all share. Bring these things to the foot of the cross, for Jesus understands intimately what it means to be human in all of its glory and pain.
Remember: no matter what your family history, your future is forever to be a beloved child of God. If you’d like someone to pray with over these things, please don’t hesitate to contact Brent or myself.
Shalom,
Rory Grant
