Thought For The Week 22 September 2019

Over the last few weeks I have been off work, recovering physically,  spiritually and emotionally from what has been a difficult time with the death of my brother, and complications from my recent surgery.

I will be forever grateful for the love and support shown to me by so many over this time.  I feel truly blessed, and truly loved.  I’d like to be able to say that I am a new man, and better than ever.  It is more honest to say that I am on the road to recovery.

The Psalms constantly encourage us as believers to gather together in worship, and to hope on the strength of the Lord in our weakness.

In the busyness of modern life it is easier than ever to become isolated and run down.  No person is an island.  All of us need a loving community to support and help us in our time of need.  I am no exception.  All of us need hope that comes from beyond our     current circumstances to see the brightness of dawn on the horizon.  Christ is our light.

I have been overwhelmed and deeply heartened to see both of these things embodied in our community of faith.  Together, we truly are God’s people of hope.  Together, we truly are God’s people of love.

My thanks goes out to all of those who have gathered around me personally, offering their gifts and support.  My thanks goes out to all those who have stepped forward with grace and generosity of spirit to serve in my absence.

Together we walk this road of life and hope.

Arohanui,

Rory Grant
