Thought For The Week 25 November 2018

Welcome to our special combined service this morning.

According to the church calendar today is the last day of the year and is referred to as Christ the King Sunday. Traditionally the readings focus on the exalted nature of Christ and his sovereignty as King of kings and Lord of lords and remind us that all powers and authorities are ultimately subject to him who rules in justice and righteousness.

It is also a special occasion as we renew our membership vows and welcome 6 new members to our congregation. These folk have been worshipping with us for some time now and have agreed to take the step of formalizing their membership so that we can acknowledge their place of belonging with us and extend to them the love and care of the body of Christ. Uru ki te whanau, welcome to the family.

Today we will also be holding a brief congregational meeting at the end of the service to approve the painting of the Trinity church.  This is long overdue and will enable some maintenance to be carried out on the roof as well as smartening the  appearance of this beautiful building. The cost of this is $51,000 (ex gst). We will also be formally approving our mission plan which sets out our strategic goals and priorities for the next few years. We believe these goals will help us grow deeper and stronger as a parish called to live and share God’s love. Copies are available at both worship centres.

Blessings,

Brent
