Thought For The Week June, 24 2018
Welcome to our services today. I hope you have enjoyed our Care for Creation series as much as we have enjoyed bringing it to you. There has certainly been a lot to take in and contemplate, given the scale of the environmental challenges we are facing (and will face in the future). It might all seem a bit depressing but this morning Rory will be bringing a message of hope titled Doom gloom or bloom? What hope does scripture offer? Do we see signs of progress in addressing these issues? What does God say about it all? I hope you will leave inspired!
Last week I had the joy of preaching at Pleasant Point. In spite of the disruption of having to vacate their hall and saying farewell to Les Gosling earlier in the year, the congregation is doing really well with signs of new life all around. There were about 12 children present which is very encouraging.
This week I will be fulfilling an Interim Moderator duty, preaching at St James, Tinwald and leading a discussion around amalgamation with St Paul’s Ashburton. I look forward to being on home ground on the 1st July to celebrate the centenary of Presbyterian Support South Canterbury. This will be a wonderful service with our national moderator, Richard Dawson preaching, presentations from PSSC and a lunch to follow. Please note this is a combined service at Trinity starting at 10am.
