Thought for the Week 6 April 2025

Last Sunday we held our belated AGM for the 2023/24 year which went very smoothly- thanks to those who attended. We made an important clarification to our nomination process for new parish council members and the agreed process will now be as follows:

1. Suggestions are brought to Parish Council of prospective members of council to the clerk by a specified date
2. Parish Council will go through a discernment process to consider these suggestions in view of the current make-up of the council and the governance needs of the parish
3. Parish Council will put forward names for nomination to a congregational meeting, with 80% approval threshold being required.

The deadline for any suggested council members to be brought forward is April 17 and we will be having a congregational meeting on the May 4 to ratify by vote on new members. To date we have three members prepared to renew their terms:  Margaret Walker, Hermann Frank and Murray Facer and one new member, Max Muldrew.

We will also be bringing Janie Hart for approval for ordination as an Elder. If approved her ordination will be arranged at a suitable time.
