Thought For The Week 16 February 2025

Welcome to our service today as we begin worshipping as one people on one location. It is right that we begin this new season with a communion service celebrating our unity forged by the self-sacrificing death of Jesus. The common faith we share is the foundation of our unity, even amid our diversity.
The move to one service on one site will be a big adjustment for us all as we navigate this change together. For some it will feel very positive, for others it may be unsettling and for all of us it is going to take some time to get used to. We will need to ensure we are gracious with one another, especially those who are filling a role they were doing at Trinity but are now doing it in a less familiar space (for example greeters, morning tea servers). I’m sure there will be many things we haven’t thought about and will need to be flexible and adaptive while we work it out together.
As we have stressed, our move to Wai-iti Rd does not mean we are abandoning Trinity. On the first Sunday of each month, we are planning a ‘Heritage’ service at 2pm (the first being on 2 March). This will incorporate the familiar elements of a worship service with the beloved hymns, both old and modern. It is our hope that the time of this service will mean many who struggle to get to a morning service will find this more accessible. As well as that we are planning a combined service on the 16 March for a Boys and Girls Brigade parade and Easter Sunday, 20 April will also be at Trinity.
Grace and peace,
Brent
