Thought For The Week 26 November 2023

Welcome to our special Stir Up service today. When I first heard the expression ‘stir up service’ I imagined it was a time when the church focused on issues that needed stirring up and airing out. Sort of a therapy session to get things off our chest! Or an organised bun fight! Fortunately, it’s about making a Christmas cake and reminding ourselves we all belong- we are all ingredients in this creation called the church. It is also a time when we welcome new members into our midst. This year however we will do that in the new year as due to an exceptionally busy period this year I have not been able to organise this aspect of the service and prepare new members.
Our service will be followed by our Annual General Meeting in which we report on the year that’s been, re-appoint our office bearers and elect new members to the parish council. This year we are delighted to have a nomination from Janie Hart who brings a fresh perspective to our parish and new energy. Murray Facer has also agreed to renew his term. We would normally also receive and approve the Annual Financial report which shows our financial performance for the previous year. Unfortunately our accountants have not been able to complete this in time for the AGM so we will call a special congregation meeting to do that.
If you are able we would love it if you could stay for pizza lunch in the hall after the service.
Nga mihi nui,
Brent
