Thought For the Week 23 April 2023

This weekend I will be travelling to Fairlie to moderate the AGM of the Mackenzie Cooperating Parish.
At times it might seem like a chore to attend another meeting (and, as Presbyterians, we are never short of meetings!). However, there is also a real privilege in sharing worship and fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Sometimes we can get our heads down, and only worry about our own concerns, but God is calling us to be part of something bigger – much bigger!
Every breath, every sunrise is a miracle – a gift from God. As we do our small part, seeking to participate in God’s good plan to redeem, restore, and fulfill His creation, then we get some small foretaste of Heaven, some touch of the Divine.
And we don’t notice that when we’re only concerned about ourselves and our own problems. When we share, when we offer ourselves to one another in encouragement and love, then we open up a whole new world.
So, this weekend, I’m off to officiate at a meeting. Maybe this week you have some chore that you are performing. But that’s only the surface of things. Look deeper – you will notice that God’s Spirit is at work. Here, there, everywhere!

Rory
