Thought For The Week 13 November 2022

Last week we took a diversion from reading Luke for our AGM service but this week we are back with a fascinating reading from chapter 21 about the signs of the end times. It’s a passage full of prediction about what is to come and it’s also very relatable; we have seen many of the things Jesus predicted
fulfilled. The destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem, wars, famines, earthquakes etc. Even the persecution of Jesus’ followers has proven true over and over again. Contrary to the way this theme is often presented, it is intended to produce faith and courage, not fear and trepidation. As followers of Jesus we long to live in the fullness of his kingdom but this is a reminder that we are not there yet and we shouldn’t become discouraged when we hear bad news.
This week Rory and I will be attending the One Conference in Wellington (17-19). We are really looking forward to being with other leaders from around the county and receiving some much needed input and inspiration.
On Sunday 20th we will once again have a combined service, this time at Trinity, 9:30am. This will be our much loved “stir up” service where we celebrate our life together and make a Christmas cake. We look forward to seeing you there.
Blessings,
Brent Richardson
