Thought For The Week 28 August 2022

Every now and then we have a Sunday service that leaves me feeling especially encouraged and blessed. Last Sunday was one of those and I’m still buzzing about it. There were many factors that made it enjoyable for me. Bringing both congregations together in one place always adds   something special and reminds us of our common unity. We had a large music team very ably led by Rory and I especially enjoyed being in the background playing bass, an instrument I am relatively new to but enjoy greatly in this context.

We seemed to have an unusual number of visitors among us last week which reminds me there are always people looking for a spiritual home.

The meeting to approve the budget was also positive with good questions and discussion. While our budget continues to be a challenge with rising costs and falling  revenue I detected a willingness to do what we can to support the work and mission of our parish. My thanks specially to Rose and the Admin team who worked so hard at putting the budget together and the clear and simple presentation of it.

The final factor that made last Sunday so good was the pizza lunch put on by the Mission group in support of Christian World Service and their work in Sri Lanka supporting exploited women. This raised $400 for the cause and it was just lovely having a meal together after church. Thanks to the mission team for your work on this.

This Sunday I will be preaching at Trinity Temuka and convening their AGM as part of my Interim Moderator role.

Blessings

Brent
