Thought For The Week 10 April 2022

Welcome to our service of worship today as we celebrate the Liturgy of the Palms (aka Palm Sunday). It’s lovely to have Rory back with us after his close encounter with the Omicron virus!

The Parish Council this week made the decision to lift the vaccine passport requirement for entry into our buildings for all users, including Sunday services. This is in line with the government guidelines and the general belief that the vaccine passes have served their purpose. The requirement to scan in has also been lifted. While these are positive steps toward ‘normality’, we recognise that we are in the midst of a covid wave of infections and have had more cases among our members than ever before. The biggest risk factor seems to be contact with school aged children, so, if you are in contact with children regularly, please be alert to any symptoms, get tested and stay isolated if necessary.

Next week is Easter and there are many opportunities to engage with the very heart of the Christian gospel:

Maundy Thursday- a special screening of the Miracle Maker movie followed by a contemplative communion service. St Stephens 6:45pm

Good Friday- combined service with St Mary’s, Church St, 10am

Easter Sunday- Sunrise service with breakfast on the beach, in front of the observation deck  7am

Combined service at St Stephen’s 10:30am

I do hope you will be able to take the opportunity to gather at these services with others to encounter the living God afresh in this season.

Blessings

Brent
