Thought For The Week 4 November 2018

At the moment I have the joyful privilege of helping two couples prepare for their wedding day. At the same time, we are moving into a month of services where reflect on our membership of The body of Christ together.
What do these two things have in common?
First, the “big day” when we declare our faithfulness to one another is not the destination, but the beginning of a new journey together. We cannot know in advance where that journey will lead, but we can know that we will be together, with God’s help along the way.
Second, the price is similar. As a husband, my goal in life is to do everything in my power to support Andrea as she continually grows into being the person that God has created her to be. In a similar way, our goal as members of Christ’s body is to build each other up in love.
Finally, we are not in this alone. Often we stumble, and sometimes we fall, but always God is right there with us, restoring our wholeness, and redeeming our brokenness.
There is great joy to be found as we embark on this journey together once more.
