Thought for the Week 19 April 2026

Welcome to our service of worship today as we continue proclaiming the resurrection of the Christ, this time through the testimony of two unknown disciples who encounter Jesus on the first day of his resurrection as they walk home from Jerusalem to Emmaus, a journey of 11kms. This story is loaded with insights into the resurrection itself, our own Christian journey and how we meet him for ourselves. We learn that following Jesus involves taking a long walk; we will have risky conversations about who Jesus is and his place in the world; we will have our trauma reframed and repurposed for the will of God; and we will be invited into quiet dinners sharing bread and wine and having our eyes open to the truth.
For some time, we have been concerned by the state of the forms at the Trinity centre. These are grubby and beyond cleaning and are due for replacement. I’m pleased to announce that we will be purchasing 60 new stackable chairs in black, green and red which will add a splash of colour to the room. They come with 2 trolleys which will make them store and position easily.
Wayfinder update: after conducting interviews we were excited to offer this position to the successful candidate but unfortunately, she has declined the position with us. We will therefore re-advertise the role and try again.
Next weekend Catherine and I will be away having a wee break, and we will leave you in the capable hands of Steph and Grant Holland and Jason Shaw, from St Andrews Geraldine will preach and lead the Communion.
Nga mihi nui, Brent
