Thought For The Week 9 November 2025

Welcome to our service today, led by Lois Shipley. Catherine and I are enjoying a wee break in Christchurch this weekend before things get crazy busy in the build up to Christmas. It is hard to believe we are nearly at the end of the year!
Today our Bucket mission offering will be gathering funds to pass onto Family Works to support their Grandparents raising children programme. Many grand parents find themselves needing to play an active role in the lives of their grandkids, usually because of financial constraints on parents juggling work, high mortgages or separation. Family Works offers support to these grandparents, and our contribution will help this vital initiative continue.
Next Sunday we have the joy of baptising Jaspreet and her 2 children Rocco and Zaya. This will be a full emersion baptism according to their wishes. Jas has been attending regularly since August and in her exploration of faith has come to the point of requesting baptism as an outward sign of the inner faith she has developed. Her children share this faith.
In other news, we expect to be announcing the appointment of a new treasurer soon. We have had 10 quality applicants for this role and will be interviewing this week. Note: this is not an elected position but is an appointment made by the Parish Council.
Nga mihi nui,
Brent
