Honouring Survivors: A public apology to survivors of abuse in Presbyterian Church care:
The Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand will deliver a public apology to survivors of abuse that occurred while in its care.
Survivors, whānau and supporters are warmly invited to attend. Full details are provided in the flyer on the noticeboard or on the table in the Foyer.
The apology will be delivered at two public events, which have been designed alongside survivors:
Dunedin – Saturday 27 September, 12pm, Otago Museum
Auckland – Saturday 4 October, 10am, Due Drop Events Centre
The Moderator for the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand, Right Rev Rose Luxford, will deliver the apology. Following that, details of the Church’s new survivor-designed holistic redress process will be outlined by Convenor Katerina Solomona.
Videos of both events, which will include NZ Sign Language, will be made available on the PCANZ’s website.
The apology will also be available in Te Reo Māori on the website.
