Thought For The Week 24 August 2025

Welcome to our service today. It’s a delight to once again have Janie sharing the word with us- I especially appreciate our growing band of lay preachers and the insight and perspectives they bring. A healthy church is one where people are given space to grow in their ministry gifts and it is good to see Janie stepping into this area of growth.
Something Janie will be encouraging us to do is to be more intentional about praying for our neighbourhoods. A practical way this can be done is through incorporating prayer with our daily walk. Perhaps you notice passing the same people on your walk; why not pray for them? Do you regularly go past a house that stands out to you for some reason? Perhaps God is prompting you to pray for those who live there. For some, prayer is as easy and natural as breathing; for others it takes a little more effort. And many times, we wonder if our prayers have any effect at all. The Apostle Paul commended the Corinthians for their prayer support of him: “On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers” (2Cor 1:11).
Who knows who we may help by our prayers?

Reminder: we will be having a congregational meeting following the service next week to approve the budget. Copies of this are available on the foyer table.
