Thought For The Week 18 May 2025

Is anyone else noticing the year going quite fast? Or is it just me? We are almost halfway through, and I feel like the year has only just started. This could be because of the increase busyness I’m experiencing, especially after the luxury of having a full-time colleague and an intern sharing the ministry load for the last two years. I’m very appreciative of those who have stepped up to fill roles, taking on more preaching assignments and in many other ways helping me to carry the load of this wonderful parish.
One of the benefits of our reduced ministry team is the pressure that was on the budget has eased considerably which is allowing us to consider undertaking some long overdue projects to improve our facilities. Work will soon begin on installing underfloor insulation in the church, offices and lounge areas which will not only make the building cosier but will preserve the subfloor from damp. As well as that, parish council have instructed the property group to get some quotes to upgrade the car park. Plans were drawn up for this two years ago and the time has come to press ahead with this project. There is a lot of demand on our carpark throughout the week, but its existing design is very inadequate. A project of this size and price will require congregational, presbytery and Church Property Trustees approval and this process will start once we have cost estimates.
Nga mihi nui,
Brent
