Thought For The Week 23 March 2025

I’m very pleased to welcome Steve McCoy once again to our pulpit to bring the sermon this week. Steve is a prayerful and thoughtful expositor of the scriptures, and it is a blessing to have him share in this way. Making space for people to   exercise their gifts is one way we grow our church, and it is especially important to develop ministry gifts and give opportunities to practice these.

Back in January I was contacted by Rev Peter McKenzie, who is the Executive Officer for the Central Presbytery and an old boy of Trinity West, to see if we would be interested in hosting his ANZAC monologue called Princes’ War. Peter dramatically tells his Great Uncle’s story from a small farm near Pleasant Point, to the deserts of Egypt and home to the family in New Zealand. Central to the story is Alex Agnew’s horse ‘Prince’ who joined the thousands of horses sent from New Zealand to Europe in the First World War. It is a story that echoes the experiences of many Kiwi families from our own history. As a history buff I’m very keen for us to host this event which will be on Wednesday 23 April, 7pm at St Stephens. More publicity will follow in due course.

A reminder as well that next Sunday, 30 March, the service will be followed by our AGM for the 2023/24 financial year.

Nga mihi nui,

Brent
