Thought For The Week 16 March 2025

Boys and Girls Brigades are uniquely Christian youth organisations, and the Timaru Third company has had a long association with this parish. We are pleased to welcome both Girls and Boys to our special parade service this morning. The success and longevity of our brigades is due to the dedication of the team of leaders who show up each week and do the mahi to ensure the boys and girls are provided with an enriching and interesting programme and are also in contact with good Christian role models. But one person stands out among this group of leaders; Fiona Blissett, who has led both companies for many years, will today be presented with one of the highest awards achievable from Girls Brigade NZ for her exceptional service. We can be very proud of Fiona, and we stand with GB in honouring her for all she has done in our community.
Our tradition of gathering weekly for Lenten studies will continue this year but we have adjusted the meeting time to make it more accessible to those who work during the day (in previous years we have met mid-morning). These will now be held between 6-7pm on Wednesdays from the 19th March through to 16th April. Sue McCoy and Catherine Richardson will lead these gatherings using the “I am” statements of Jesus as the basis of our contemplations. I do hope you will be able to attend and be refreshed as we dwell together in the scriptures.
Nga mihi nui,
Brent Richardson
