Thought For The Week 5 May 2024

Welcome to our services of worship today as we continue in our series Ordinary people, Extraordinary God, exploring what happens when we everyday people meet the God who transforms our lives and is able to do the extraordinary through us. One of the things I’ve enjoyed the most from this series is hearing from folk who don’t usually occupy the pulpit. Like Jonathan Grant a couple of weeks ago talking about Aaron and coming up we will hear from Janie Hart and Andrea Grant. I believe a healthy church is one that fosters the growth of its members into all areas of ministry- including preaching/teaching and it is encouraging to see these folk stepping up into this role.
Another sign of a healthy church is one that intentionally engages in the practice of spiritual discernment in order to hear what the Spirit is saying and how God might be leading us in the current season. The parish council have been doing this over the past few months and we are inviting you to be part of this through the month of May as we make time and space before each service to pray around 2 key issues: we are looking for God’s guidance around starting a new work among folk on the edge of our life (a new mission seedling to use the jargon term) and is it time to move our worship life to one site? Each prayer time will be for about 15 mins starting at 9am in the Trinity Chapel and 10 am at St Stephens. I hope you will join us as we seek God together.
Nga manaakitanga ki a koutou katoa (Blessings to all)
