Thought For The Week 17 September 2023

Welcome to our services today and a special welcome to Ken and Alison Linscott’s family who are at Trinity to celebrate Ken and Alison’s last Sunday with us before they shift to Christchurch. The Linscott’s have been active and vital members of our parish over many years, joining St Pauls on their arrival in Timaru around 1978. Ken had a keen interest in seeing greater cooperation between our churches and denominations and was passionate about doing good in our community. The keen eyed will notice signs of his involvement through the built infrastructure at Centennial Park and the Otipua wetlands. Alison has been a faithful member of the choir, mission group and a prayerful elder. We will greatly miss the Linscott’s fellowship but wish them well in this next chapter.
A HUGE thankyou is in order for Murray, Bev and the many others who made the plant sale such a success. This is the only major fund-raiser we have each year and it contributes a significant amount to the running of our parish. But more significantly is the joy, comradery and connection with our community this event enables. It’s also a lovely way to mark spring and get inspired for gardening. So, once again thanks to all involved for a sterling effort.
FYI: Luke will be on block course in Dunedin this week and will take a few days leave before attending General Assembly with me at the end of the month so we will see him again at the start of October.
Nga mihi nui,
Brent Richardson
