Thought For The Week 2 July 2023

This last Tuesday I had the pleasure of attending the winter lunch at St Stephens.

This event provides a lovely image of our church, I think. A big team of people working together selflessly to offer something beautiful to our community. Food made in love, shared in love, and enjoyed together in love. One of those who shared the meal with us told me “There’s something lovely about coming here. There’s no ego. People just get along.”

What a wonderful thing!

The apostle Paul describes the fruits of the Spirit as a foretaste of the heavenly feast, when all things are reconciled in God. When we devote ourselves to these things: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; then we catch glimpses of what lies at the heart of all things: God’s desire that we should live in loving relationship with Him, and with one another.

When we experience these moments, God’s hope, faithfulness, and love are made real in our lives, and it’s always a blessing.

So thank you to those kind souls who made those moments possible this last Tuesday, and, together, let’s devote ourselves to God’s goodness in our lives.

Nga manaakinui,

Rory
