THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK 9 OCTOBER 2022
Welcome to our special combined service today and especially welcome to our Boys and Girls Brigade families. This year on the 4 October marked 139 years since the Boys brigade was founded by William Alexander Smith in Glasgow, making it the oldest uniformed organisation for youth in the world. We are very proud of the work our dedicated Brigade leaders put into this programme, especially during the difficult season of Covid and managing all the disruptions this brought. Well done team!
Last Sunday we shared the joyous occasion of Rev Anne Stewart’s induction into St David’s Union church. This is a half time position. Our own Lois Shipley was the interim moderator for St David’s during this ministry vacancy and did a great job encouraging the parish and holding things together as they sought ministry settlement. Well done Lois.
Anne will also be involved in our parish doing some pulpit supply when I am on study leave next year and will take over my mentoring role with Luke Blackbeard, our ministry intern who will commence in Feb.
A reminder that reports for the AGM are due this week (12th) so that the booklet can be produced in time for the AGM on 6 Nov. Nominations for parish council are due on 19 Oct.
Nga mihi nui,
Brent
