Plant Sale: Saturday 17 September at 9am at St Stephens. If you have any garden tools that you are not needing, we would welcome these to sell. Contact: Murray ph 686 1629.
Baking Sales Table: Alongside the Plant Sale planned for Saturday 17 September we will be running the popular Baking Sales Table. Given the amazing array of goods we received last year from many talented bakers and cooks we would love you to “tempt our tastebuds” again with your favourite treats. Perhaps you would prefer to donate some baking ingredients (butter/sugar/fruit) and/or monetary donations for someone else to bake your favourite slice? Please leave any ingred./ monies at the Church Office; or at College/Wai-iti Rd Church foyers (labelled “Baking Stall”), or phone for pickup – before Sunday 11 September please. Gift baskets for the plant sale: A big thankyou to 26 people who took a wee shopping basket to fill. Some have already been returned to the office. If you would like your basket picked up please notify the office. A suggested sale price attached to the basket would be appreciated.
Community Lunch: There will be NO lunch in September. The next lunches will be October and November.
Presbyterian Women’s Lunch Group: PLEASE NOTE that our Group will meet on Wednesday 14 September NOT 21 September at Wai-iti Worship Centre to accommodate our Guest Speaker. Usual starting time of 12.30pm. Shared Lunch. Sales Table. Guest Speaker: Fiona Jackson, Refugee Settlement Services Manager. Alpine Spring Gathering: 16-17 Sept at Hope Presbyterian, West Melton. To register, go to: https://alpinepresbytery.org/spring-gathering/ then follow the instructions to the registration Form. Geoff New will be facilitating a reflective space on the “Spirituality of Remembrance”. We will also be hearing from a number of people involved in different projects and spaces around the Presbytery. You don’t need to be an elder or ordained minister to come to our Gatherings, anyone is welcome.
Plant Sales Table: A big thank you to all who have supported the stall at St Stephens. This stall will close on Thursday this week.
Operation Christmas Child Boxes: Thank you once again to those who support this last year We will be supporting the project this year. Each box is to contain for boys and girls aged from 2-14 pears old:
- “wow” item or toy
- clothing item
- Personal care items
- School supplies
- Accessories ie hair accessories, jewellery, flashlights
The boxes from New Zealand generally go to Asia or Pacific Island country. You are all invited to support this by providing items as above or make a contribution towards travel costs which is $10.00 per box. If you wish to fill your own box please remember to include the transport cost of $10.00. A box will be in each foyer for you to put in the items or leave the donation. Date for collection is 16 October 2022. I will have a supply of the OCC boxes available soon. For further information contact Judith 688 6004.
Guided Prayer Retreat at Hanmer Springs on the 25th-27th September. Heather Simpson and Barbara MacMillan, both qualified Spiritual Directors, will be leading this Retreat, based on the themes of Hunger and Thirst, with the key verse being Psalm 107:9. This guided retreat is open to anyone in leadership in your church or parish, so if you know of someone who might be keen to come along please let them know it’s happening. Due the nature of the retreat this is limited to 12 people and food and accommodation will be provided.
