Thought For The Week 3 July 2022

Welcome to our services today. If you are a regular attender, you will probably have noticed a decline in numbers at both Trinity and St Stephens. There are several factors contributing to this. Travel restrictions have lifted so folk are free to go overseas and escape the winter; we have quite a few folk who have compromised health and the winter cold is a challenging time for them. But the biggest impact is the ongoing Covid pandemic which continues to spread among us. I know of at least 9 members who have recently contracted it.  I’m sure there are more than that! Fortunately, the effects of the newer variants are not as severe as the early ones, thanks I’m sure to the high vaccination rates among us. Remember, if you are unwell, stay home, get tested and seek help. And don’t forget you can join our service virtually through our YouTube channel (YouTube/ Timaru Presbyterian).

Being the first Sunday in the month we have our retiring offering/Bucket mission offering which this month will go towards a new initiative at the Trinity centre creating a             community garden. This will provide produce to assist in a learn to cook programme planned in partnership with Family Works. It will also offer another point of connection to the surrounding neighbourhood and be a sign of life to the community. Some funding has already been secured from the Alpine Presbytery ‘Have a go’ fund and our offering today will supplement that.

Nga mihi,

Brent
