Thought For The Week March 6 2022

As expected, the cases of the omicron variant of covid 19 have greatly increased around the country and we in South Canterbury are not immune to this. At the time of writing there are some 200 active cases in the area, which increases the likelihood that any one of us might also catch this virus and become unwell. The increased case numbers have meant that the ministry of health is no longer posting locations of interest or contacting close contacts of those infected. The onus is on individuals who test positive to inform others who may have been in contact with them. For this reason, we would ask that if you do test positive and have been at church or any group using our facilities that you please contact the church office so we can spread the word, stay alert to any symptoms and isolate cases as needed.
Our parish council has made the decision to review how we run our worship services if our weekly combined (both sites) attendance falls to 50 or less. Our normal attendance is around 100 per week. This will likely see us combine for worship at one or other sites and continue to offer a live stream service. We will continue to abstain from having morning tea, in accordance with South Canterbury Public Health Unit guidelines.
If you test positive for Covid-19:
You must self-isolate and stay at home or your accommodation, unless a health professional tells you otherwise.
You can only leave to get medical care or in an emergency.
You cannot have visitors.
Tell people you spent time with from 2 days before you started having symptoms or tested positive.
Stay safe and God bless you
Brent
