Thought For The Week 06 September 2020
Welcome to our services of worship this week. Our newly commissioned Pastoral Elder, Lois Shipley will be conducting the Trinity service and preaching at both sites. Lois always brings an insightful reflection on scripture so it’s a delight to have her in the pulpit today.
Last Wednesday we farewelled June Barker. It was a privilege to conduct her funeral. As a new Christian some 37 years ago, I attended a home group hosted by Eric and June when they lived in Waimate. June’s suppers were always a highlight of the evening! It was nice to reconnect with June when we returned to Timaru 4 years ago but it was also sad to see her struggle with so many health issues over her final years. We are thankful that June is at last at rest with her Lord and Shepherd. Our love and prayers are with Eric at this time.
I want to say a huge thankyou to Murray Facer and his team of many helpers who made the annual plant sale such a big success. All those who grew seedlings, provided baking, manned the stalls etc. The money raised from this is helpful of course but of even greater value is the coming together to bless our community with inexpensive plants in preparation for Spring.
