Thought For The Week 8 September 2019
Welcome to our services of worship today. Catherine and I have just returned from a very refreshing holiday on the Sunshine Coast (Mooloolaba) and a 7-day cruise to New Caledonia and Vanuatu. One of the best things about our holiday was the decision not to activate our phones for Australia. This meant we had no internet or social media except for brief periods and no phone calls, which was very liberating! It’s was amazing how many people on our ship were still glued to their phones- I wonder if they missed any of the fun going on around them? We had a marvellous time and I’m sure some of our experiences will find their way into sermon illustrations over time!
A big thank you to Helen Carter and Lois Shipley who between them held the fort in my absence. Rory has been ordered by his doctor to have an extra week off as his throat is still not healing up satisfactorily. He has been given a change in medication to help with this and we are expecting him back on the 15th. Please keep the Grant’s in your prayers.
Reminder. Next Saturday we have our annual plant sale at St Stephen’s which also includes a cake stall. If you can contribute some baking for that it would be appreciated. As well as being a great fundraiser the plant sale really blesses the community and draws us together for a common project. If you have any questions please see Murray (686 1629).
Also, next Sunday is our AGM which will be held at St Stephen’s at 10:30am. We will be electing our Parish Council, approving the accounts and budget, as well as receiving reports from the various ministry groups. I hope you can make it and look forward to your participation.
Nga Mihi,
Brent Richardson
