Thought For The Week 7 July 2019
All organisations require effective governance to ensure they have a healthy framework from which to carry out their core purpose. This applies to large publicly listed businesses, schools, hospitals, clubs and churches. Our church is governed by the Parish Council who are responsible to ensure every aspect of our communal life runs smoothly and in accordance with our mission plan and complies with all regulations that govern us (both church and state regulations). This includes such things as financial management, membership, services of worship, pastoral care of members, the up-keep of our property, employment of staff etc. The Council is comprised of 12 members who sign on for a 3-year period.
I mention this because we have some retiring members finishing their term at the next AGM (Sept 15th) and have opened nominations for new members. We are looking for people who
- Are committed to our parish and seeing it fulfil its God given purpose to live and share God’s love
- You will need to be a member and a regular attender at worship
- Experience in governance or senior management would be helpful
If you would like further information please see Brent or Rory.
It is exciting and encouraging to see a new spin off ministry from Rhythm Kids forming- TP Kids. This is new playgroup which had a soft start to test the concept with plans to meet regularly from next term. Helen Carter is leading this new initiative and the response has been promising so far. Already there are conversations around faith in God brewing among this group- please keep them in your prayers. Initiatives like this can prove very fruitful and are practical ways we can share God’s love with our community.
Blessings,
Brent
