Thought For The Week 23 June 2019

Welcome to our services of worship today. At both sites we are looking at the transformative power the gospel of Jesus has on those who  encounter it. This is demonstrated in dramatic fashion when Jesus crosses the Sea of Galilee and encounters a demon possessed man.   Jesus  demonstrates his power over all the forces that seek to destroy human life by setting the man free from his torment. This transformative power is explained in Galatians- through faith in Christ we are no longer under guardianship of the law but are made free and equal in Christ. Our prayer for you is that you will experience the transforming power of Christ today and live in his freedom and grace.

This weekend Alpine Presbytery are having a retreat in Hanmer Springs and 5 of us will be traveling up after church. Road trips are a good occasion to ‘chew the fat’ as we traverse the miles and I’m very much looking forward to spending this time together. It is also a good opportunity to network with other Presbyterians in our region.

Coming up: From the 22 July to 2 Aug I will be in Nelson attending the Caleb  Leadership Course. I am very much looking forward to the input this course will provide and the honing of key leadership skills for ministry. I’m very thankful our Parish Council has granted me permission to attend this course.

Blessings

Brent
