Thought For The Week 16 June 2019
There’s an unsung group in our church- you might have heard of them- the Missions group. This small group are responsible for the Eatwell initiative, Buy and Supply table, monthly offerings and Mission Project towards various projects, cooking demonstrations in Kowhai Kindy and the knitting project making children’s beanies and gloves for our community.
Hanan kindergarten, which is next door to Trinity church, has been a recipient of some of this knitting and were so impressed by the effort of our knitters they organised the collection of wool from their families so that more items could be knitted.
The results of this effort have been captured in a beautiful short video made by Hanan Kindy- their entry in the ‘Caption the Action’ competition run by SC Kindergartens and WAVE (Well-being and vitality in education). The video can be viewed on TPP’s Facebook page. Thanks to Andrea Grant for bringing this to our attention. What strikes me about this is the way the Hannan families have partnered with us; they are not just recipients of the garments but helped source the raw materials to make them. This is a great example of collaboration in mission and loving our neighbour. Well done to all those who took part.
