Thought For The Week 9 June 2019
My greetings to you on this day of Pentecost. A day of celebration and new life and new hope.
It is wonderful to be worshiping among you again after what has been a very difficult few weeks for me, personally.
The surgery on my nose and throat has been a real success, and though I’m still a little hoarse, I’m looking forward to improved health and greater energy in the weeks and months ahead.
Since then, as many of you already know, my life and the life of my family has been touched by tragedy. My older brother Hamish was out cycling on the 18th of May, and was in a terrible accident. After 5 days in a coma in ICU, he passed away on the 23rd of May.
Needless to say, I am devastated.
In the days and weeks since, I have been truly touched by the love, the care and concern shown by so many in our congregation and in our wider church family. I feel truly blessed. There is no way that I can thank all of you, so please know that your messages, your prayers, your baking and your meals have been a real comfort in a difficult time.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers, especially Hamish’s family as he left behind a wife and two children. Together we celebrate the man that Hamish has been and the legacy that he leaves behind.
In His love,
