Thought For The Week 26 May 2019
We welcome Rev Shona Bettany to both our services today and look forward to what she will bring from God’s word. I have been in Auckland over the weekend for National Assessment Weekend where candidates for ministry have their call affirmed (or otherwise) before entering the training system to become ordained leaders and ministers in our church. This year we have 1 candidate from the Alpine Presbytery going forward for assessment.
Last Saturday’s Brazilian cultural dinner was a wonderful success with 55 people gathered to try new food and learn from Otto and Thalita Maghalhaes about life in Brazil. The night was an amazing effort by a team of folk who cooked and prepared the food, set up the room and did clean up afterwards. A huge thank you to all involved. Our initial intent was to run these monthly through winter highlighting various cultures represented in our church. However, this may be too ambitious! The pastoral team, who initiated this project, will review this idea and make a decision about the next one.
