Thought For The Week 7 April

As many of you may know I’m a pretty keen cyclist and I’ll jump at any excuse to get on my bike, especially if it means riding the great trails in our region. Last weekend our parish youth group had a Bike Camp which involved tenting on Friday night at Lake Pukaki (it was somewhat chilly overnight) and biking from Tekapo B power station to the Ohau weir- 43km in  total along the Alps to Ocean trail. We were thoroughly blessed with an excellent day for riding and I was very proud of our young people who went the distance. We had 7 young people and 5 adults riding plus the wonderful Catherine Richardson and Grant Holland providing logistical support. Occasions like this are a great way for the generations to mix and mingle, building a strong sense of community and whanau. I’m looking forward to the next excuse for a ride with this fun bunch!

Easter is almost upon us and with it an opportunity to worship with the wider church in Timaru through the annual combined Good Friday service at Life Church, Morgans Rd. This year I have been asked to share the message which is quite an honour. On Resurrection Sunday we will once again be having a special dawn service on Caroline Bay (port end) featuring bbq fish and buns (7am). This will be followed by a combined service at Trinity (9:30am).  I hope you will be able to enter in afresh to the story of   Jesus’ death and resurrection and connect with the significance of this event for your life.

Blessings,

Brent
