Thought for the Week 17 March
As we move into the second week of Lent, we are challenged to consider our place in the world. Each of us is called and cared for, chosen and loved by God.
Jesus took his journey to the cross knowing well what the cost would be, yet also knowing what it meant for God’s love to find fullness in human flesh.
In him we find who we are truly meant to be. In him we find salvation, not only for ourselves, but for the world. In him we find that we are not individuals, but, together, we are human, created in the image of the God who is Love.
As we go through this time, I would encourage you to take part in the Matthew 25 challenge. From the 24th-30th of March we will be challenged each day by a spiritual discipline that invites us to understand what it means for us to come face to face with our own humanity, and that of our brothers and sisters around the world. There is a card you can pick up in the foyer this morning, and cards will be handed out with the service sheet next Sunday.
Together we are human.
Together we are created in the image of God.
Together, as we walk with Jesus the journey of the cross, we are made one.
Together, as we look towards Resurrection dawning, we are made whole.
