Thought For The Week 28 October 2018
The other day my Facebook page showed pictures of us packing up our house in Rolleston and shifting into the manse in Timaru from 2 years ago, reminding me we have been here exactly 2 years. Which doesn’t sound like a very long time and yet to me it seems longer. That’s because of the amount of activity that has been packed into that time.
A key theme for me over the past 2 years comes from Psalm 80:3 “Restore us, Lord God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved”. As I reflect back, I can see that God has in fact been restoring us. This is seen in the many building projects undertaken and the improvements these bring, as well as in the positivity of our members and the springing forth of new initiatives and new people among us. I’m humbled and blessed to be part of what God is doing and am looking forward to what is come.
Speaking of what is to come, we will be finishing the liturgical year with a 4-part series looking at what it means to be a member of the body of Christ. Believe, belong, behave will explore themes around our collective responsibilities in church life, how we can help each other grow and how our life together is to be a foretaste of God’s kingdom on earth. Alongside this we will be running a pop-up study group. Invitations have been sent out for this but it is also open to whoever wants to come along. These will begin on Thursday November, 1. (Contact Brent for more info). The series will end with a special combined service at Trinity where we will welcome new members on the 25th November.
