Thought For The Week 22 July 2018
As I write this I am sitting in the satisfied glow of another successful 3 day holiday programme. The theme this time was superheroes, looking at how Jesus is a super hero for us and how we can be a super hero to others by being a good friend. We heard 3 stories from the bible; Jesus healing a cripple who was lowered through the roof by his 4 friends; the good Samaritan and Zacchaeus who climbed a tree to get a look at Jesus. The children were amazingly attentive and recalled many of the facts when playing our review game, Zonk.
None of this would have happened without our great team of local heroes who organized craft activities, baking, games and assisted in many other ways. Many of the teenage helpers come from other churches so it’s special to have this cross-church collaboration. Special thanks go to Catherine Richardson who did a huge amount of work putting the programme together and keeping a close eye on all the details. I think all who have been involved in past holiday programmes would agree this one was very well organized and run. Thanks Catherine.
This weekend Rory is in his old stomping ground of Rotorua attending the School Trustees Association conference and I will be at both services. Next week our usual pattern of preaching will resume so Trinity folk will have a chance to chat with a minister post service.
