Thought For The Week 17 June 2018

Last week at our mission planning meeting before Parish Council we read together from Mark chapter 1:

After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God.  “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

The question is, what is the Good News?  If I asked each of you that question, I’d probably get a subtly different answer from everyone, and all of your answers would probably circle around the love of God that is revealed in Jesus.

What does all of that have to do with climate change and caring for creation?  Well, in John 3:16, Jesus declares God’s love for the whole world.  It is through faith in Jesus and his healing that redemption and renewal comes, not just for the sake of believers, but for the sake of the whole world.

This is good news.

Shalom,

Rory
