Thought For The Week 18 February 2018
Welcome to our combined service today at Trinity and a special welcome to Rev Shona Bettany from Knox Waimate who will be leading the worship. Rory and I are at Pleasant Point today for the commissioning of their new ministry student intern, Donald Gordon. Rory is the interim moderator for this parish and I’m the student convener for Alpine Presbytery, so we are there on official business.
The latest edition of the LINK has been distributed and I draw your attention to the call for nominations for 3 positions on the Parish Council. The Council is the governing body of our church and deals with policy, vision and strategy matters, as well as managing the tasks and resources of the parish. If you would like to nominate someone (make sure you have his or her consent first) please inform the parish clerk in writing. These can be left at the church office, 349 Wai iti Rd.
You may be wondering about progress on the upgrade of the St Stephen’s foyer project. The application has been lodged with the Presbytery property and finance committee and will be considered by the Presbytery Council this week. If approved it will be sent to the Church Property Trustees who give the final approval. That is usually a reasonably quick process so we should know by the end of March.
Blessings,
Brent
