Thought For The Week 24 September

Phew! The election is over – time for the negotiations to begin to form a government. (Note: I’m writing this on Thursday prior to the election so am assuming no clear winner which is so often the case). It’s certainly been an enlivened election campaign.

Last Saturday we held our annual spring plant sale at St Stephen’s which raised just over $3500. A great effort from a big team of helpers under Murray Facers’ leadership. I especially enjoyed the Kapa haka and Pacifica groups from South School who performed in the church. It was also good to share the occasion with the Gleniti playcentre’s gala day – a good example of sharing an event to mutual benefit.

A reminder that next Sunday (1st Oct) is our AGM. This will be at the conclusion of the service to be held at St Stephen’s. Note the starting time of 10am. This won’t just be a business meeting but a celebration of what the Lord has done for us over the last year (and there is much to celebrate). The following Sunday we will combine again for our Alpine Presbytery service, at Trinity, 9:30am. Rev Dr Steve Taylor, the principal of Knox Centre for Ministry and Leadership will be preaching. He is a thoughtful and engaging preacher so you won’t want to miss that.

Have a great week,

Brent
