Thought For The Week 27 September 2020

I grew up in a family that loved our pet cats.  Cats are sometimes considered somewhat aloof, but they’re also affectionate, warm and fuzzy.

Pets teach us about the wonder of life, the beauty of creation, and the gift of caring for another.

Pets teach us to love.

And as we learn to love, we are also inspired to justice.  Justice is not just about righting wrongs, it’s about living in a way that looks beyond our own needs and values the life of others.

The prophet Micah sums it up nicely:

“He has shown you what is good.

And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.”

So, as we celebrate our pets, I pray that we are inspired to love, and challenged to live a life that is kind, humble, and just.
